Katherine Sholder has more than 25 years experience as an English as a Foreign Language teacher. A native English speaker from the US, she now lives in Lisbon, Portugal. She has a Master’s degree in Education and a teaching certificate from the University of Michigan, and specializes in conversation and public speaking skills. With a strong background in education, she teaches all ages and levels of English language learners, from beginners to advanced learners. She teaches group and individual classes in many different settings, from public and private schools to private institutions and universities. In addition to helping students prepare for standardized tests such as TOEFL and TOEIC, she offers professional editing and proofreading services.
She says, “Traveling abroad, living in different countries, and learning several languages have helped me understand the difficulties of learning a new language. Since I believe that a relaxed atmosphere reduces stress and helps students learn, my lessons are always student centered and fun! I don’t use just one method of teaching, but instead base my lessons on each individual’s different goals and learning styles.”
